We are a volunteer community garden in Hackney, London, UK. We have been up and running for 3 years, consisting of about 40 residents from various age and cultural groups, who have been growing food in a previously disused space on the estate. We have just been given our second site to expand to meet growing demand, so watch this space to follow the next phase of our project!

Allocating out our new raised beds
Yesterday evening we got all the residents who are growing this year to meet us at the new garden so we could choose a bed and begin their planting. We had a great turn out. Next thing will be giving out some seeds and berry bushes we were kindly given by Lakeside.
Apple trees and Sarah from Capital Growth visits us!
Last week we were lucky enough to be visited by Sarah, who wanted to talk to us about the project and use our garden as a case study in the Capital Growth newsletter (we are so happy about that!) She brought Ida along, who grows salads for Growing Communities in a nearby garden. It was lovely to meet them both. We also had Andy and Francisco from London Wildlife Trust bring some apples trees that we hope to eventually become a small orchard on the estate.
